The purpose of the operation is to make our important institution for researching and getting to know mollusks, the Shell Museum in Piran, even richer with exhibits, more professional and even more educational and nature-oriented with the proposed expansion project. An important goal of the operation is to acquaint and raise awareness of as many young people and fishermen as possible about the importance, role, sensitivity, sustainable understanding and biological characteristics of molluscs, with an emphasis on our sea and partly on land. Aware residents of coastal areas are paramount in the sustainable conservation of nature, the environment and molluscs. The extremely important role of the museum is also to deepen the coastal identity of the coastal area of Slovenia and to engage young people in a sustainable understanding of the marine environment.
